The joint conference of IUFRO Working Groups 2.04.01 (Population, ecological and conservation genetics) and 2.04.10 (Genomics), along with the Canadian Tree Improvement Association (CTIA) will be held in Québec City, August 24-29, 2008, including satellites activities and workshops. It will be hosted by Université Laval and its partners.

The conference venue (Loews Le Concorde) is located near the beautiful Battle Fields, the St.Lawrence River and the historical city.

  • The joint IUFRO-CTIA Main Conference will be held from August 25 to 28 and will include welcoming reception, invited talks, oral presentations, posters, banquet and field trips. Keynote speakers include David Neale (USA) and Antoine Kremer (France); other confirmed invited speakers are Sally Aitken (Canada), Thomas Byram (USA), Yousry El-Kassaby (Canada), Matias Kirst (USA), and Antje Rohde (Belgium).

  • CTIA Working Groups on Tree Seeds and Wood Quality will hold their workshops on Monday, August 25, with Harry Wu (Australia) as keynote speaker (Wood Quality Workshop).

  • The first Arborea-Treenomix Workshop on conifer genomics will be held on Monday August 25, with Michele Morgante (Italy) as keynote speaker.

  • The CONFORGEN Conference will be held on Friday, August 29, with Thomas Ledig (USA) as keynote speaker. Other confirmed speakers include: Brian Barber, Tannis Beardmore, Barb Boysen, Andreas Hamann, and Judy Loo.
